Situated northwest of the Free Cities, they walled off their nation about eighty years ago when Storm King Darius took the throne. At the time they were at war with the Duchy of Nord at the northern end of the kingdom. After decades of bloody fighting, the Duchy was eventually annexed.
Varen is currently ruled by Darius's grandson, Storm King Rastin.
