'''Half-elves''' are those born from the union of a [[human]] and an [[elf]], and are generally said to display the best traits of both: they are ambitious and versatile, and often display an affinity for nature and magic. Most half-elves grow up in either metropolitan cities in which members of all races are common, or in primarily human towns. It is rare for a half-elf to be raised primarily by other elves; most elves who live among their own kind want little to do with humans or any other race.

Half-elves - especially those raised in human communities - often find themselves unable to fit in, growing to adulthood as humans do yet barely aging as their friends and loved ones grow old. As a result, many half-elves are drawn to solitary life, or vocations such as adventuring or mercenary work that offer ever-changing groups of companions.
