Its aridity was pushed to further extremes after the [[Illithid War]] devastated [[Estorium]], however, when a number of wizards fled to Pharis and sought to build their own empire. A great war ensued between the wizards, from which their were no victors. The wizards were all killed, and their spells devastated the land; in many places across Pharis, especially in the southern regions, vast areas of wild, chaotic magic still persist, making travel perilous.
