Svirfneblin

Svirfneblin, sometimes called deep gnomes, are an offshoot of gnomes that lives deep in the Underdark. Though many mistakenly believe them to be an evil race, like the drow or duergar, svirfneblin are generally good-natured, if a bit standoffish. They live in large underground cities, which are kept well-hidden from outsiders. It is very common, however, for svirfneblin caravans to make yearly treks to the surface to trade with a select few settlements or individuals who have proven themselves to be trustworthy.
